Stars, stripes and everything nice

Fourth of July is almost here and whether you’re from the south or the north every is citizen has a dress code for Thursday: red, white and blue. Now long long ago in a galaxy far far away we used to wear red jean shorts and the classic $5 Old Navy Flag tees. Seriously like every single year around the fourth we’d make the trek to the mall and scoop up that years current Stars and Stripes tribute…however since I’m not in eighth grade anymore and I buy my clothes not my mother, I’m proud to say I have broken the cycle and no longer own any of those traditional tees.

However, I do have a slight obsession with all things nautically inspired, Americana, and the great Tommy himself. Lucky for me (or really unlucky for my wallet if you’re a half empty glass) we just got in the most fabulous new pieces at work, a whole room dedicated to anchors, navy stripes and pops of red. I went on a mini-spending spree, I am still expecting a kid so I can’t spend all my food budget on clothes too anymore :/ , and bought some fabulous things I’ll be able to wear for the rest of the summer and post-pregnancy! All of these items are available for purchase right now at The Limited and they’re actually very reasonably priced, the hard part is picking which outfit to wear on the fourth!!!

For starters: I love pattern play, we all know this well, gimme a great mix of subtle pattern on bold pattern and its just as good as chocolate cake to me, this ensemble embodies just a tad pattern on pattern in our classic colors, a fabulous anchor top in navy and white, seersucker blazer, and red crop pants.

For those of you like me that have to work (I know there’s only a handful of you out there) some basic suiting options in patriotic colors. The essential white button down, navy suiting pants, and my fav new red blazer (you’ll be seeing this over and over again so learn to love it like I do now)

Another office option: navy polka dot skirt and red bow tie top

Our store got in these fabulous tulip cotton skirts and they were on sale for $25 this week, being that their cotton, super comfy, and stretchy so I can wear them a LOT as my belly grows I bought both colors and am debating on wearing one tomorrow. The red skirt looks adorable with the anchor tank, and to accessorize this phenomenal convertible scarf belt with more anchors ❤

The navy one with this sheer navy striped blouse tied at the waist for fun with a red belt and necklace

Just for the heck of it to show you how much red, white and blue I have… Red crops, essential button down in white, and a geometric cardi that I love adorned with the Americana band fedora I stole from James.

Finally my denim options: you can interchange these with shorts, but since I’m working I won’t be able to wear shorts. For starters my awesome 917 dark wash skinnys, with my belly band they still fit and are so completely comfortable, paired with my red blazer, and this great white tank embellished with gold buttons.

And the lucky winner for my fourth outfit: white hot 678 skinny jeans, navy and white striped 3/4 sleeve blouse, with my red blazer cuffed up so the anchor lining shows. Patriotic, nautical, and comfortable. I’m so excited to munch on BBQ and watch fireworks after a long day of being a retail therapist…I’m lucky that I get so many awesome options for my work wardrobe and won’t have to rush home to change before the sky spectacular starts!

  1. Spot on with this write-up, I really believe this site needs far more attention. I’ll probably be back again to see more, thanks for the information!
